Fishing Minutes From Your North Carolina New Home

Fisherman in North Carolina will enjoy the fishing experience at Lake Norman – and that’s no Fish Story! Freshwater fisherman will find a good fight with the lake’s white bass, striped bass and largemouth bass, so grab your lures, rubber worms or plugs, polish up your casting skills and sign up for one of the local fishing tournaments.

Fishing off the bottom more your style? Like the fight of a big, fat catfish? Lake Norman has those, too, so pack your “smelly” bait and get those seasonings ready for a nice dinner of blackened catfish…yum! If you’re more a “bobber and worm” type of fisherman, or if you’re bringing the little ones along, Lake Norman has plenty of crappie and yellow perch. Find a big school and you may catch enough fish to last you days!

Lake Norman supports fishing from boats and off the shore. Public fishing is permitted from shore at Lake Norman State Park, Jetton Road County Park, Ramsey Creek Access Area, Blythe Landing County Park and Duke Energy's Marshall Steam Station. If you’d like to fish from a boat and don’t have one, rentals are available.

If you are looking to make North Carolina your new home and want to be close to a good fishing hole, there are many neighborhoods near Lake Norman to choose from. Be sure to consider Winding Walk in Cabarrus County, just around the corner from Concord and close to Charlotte. The community of Winding Walk features new homes, three wooded neighborhood parks with playgrounds, an outdoor fire-pit area, a quiet park with a small play area, plenty of walking and nature trails, tennis courts, golf courses and a junior Olympic pool with a lazy river, complete with a play area for kids.
