Celebrate Your New Home with The Carolina Shag!

New Homes North Carolina

No, the Carolina Shag is not a type of floor covering…not for the purpose of this posting anyways!

The Carolina Shag is the state dance of North Carolina and South Carolina.

In the 1950’s and 1960’s, high school students of the Carolinas flocked to Myrtle Beach — actually they still do. But back in the 50’s and 60’s, everybody danced the Shag or the Carolina Shag, as it is sometimes called. Wikipedia says The Carolina Shag is a six count partner dance done mostly to moderate tempo music (100-150 bpm). During the dance the upper body and hips hardly move as the legs do convoluted kicks and fancy footwork.

For some reason, those high school students of the 50’s and 60’s have never let go of those happy, carefree days. Perhaps because it’s such a perfect dance!

So, celebrate the purchase of a new North Carolina home by doin’ the Carolina Shag!!

Concord Has Much To Offer To New Home Buyers

New Homes Builder

Concord was first settled in 1750 and is located near the center of Cabarrus County, twenty miles northeast of Charlotte. The name “Concord” means harmony.

A few years ago, the City of Concord implemented the "Partnerships for Stronger Neighborhoods" program. This program is designed to enhance the lives of residents in the neighborhoods in the city, increasing the quality of both life and events for those calling Concord home. Through volunteer city staff liaisons appointed to work directly with neighborhoods requesting participation in the program, strong communication is established between city government and the citizens it serves which contributes to making this Concord one of the most sought-after communities for homebuyers in the regional real estate market. Choices are diverse, offering modest homes to multi-million dollar estates.

New Homes

Winner of the All-American City Award in 2004, Concord boasts a comprehensive collection of late nineteenth and early twentieth century historic districts along the streets of North Union, South Union and Edgewood. Within the historic districts is also Memorial Garden which is located on three acres, the garden winds through the 200-year-old cemetery of The First Presbyterian Church. Memorial Garden is a horticultural jewel and a tourist attraction in itself. The historic districts and Memorial Garden are all within easy walking distance of historic and vibrant downtown Concord, with numerous restaurants, banks, shops and personal services.

The City of Concord provides its neighborhoods with three recreational centers, eight parks, four sport complexes, an aquatics center featuring open swimming and swim lessons, beautiful Lake Fisher, with 3 miles of lakefront and 534 acres providing for a leisurely boating and fishing, greenways and bike paths. There is also the championship 18-hole Rocky River Golf Club owned by the City and privately managed.

The educational system includes both private and public schools, in secondary and higher education. Concord is served by the Cabarrus County Schools system. For post-secondary education, residents may choose from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, Cabarrus College of Health Sciences and only a few miles to the south, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
